Four stamps depicting scenes from the momuments by Vasos Falireas at Thermopylae (€0,50 and €2,50) and Sparta (a portrait of Leonidas, €1,00) and the famous text by Simonides inscribed on the Spartan burial mound (€0,90). They were issued in sheetlets of 25 stamps and two sheetlets, one with the stamps of €0,90 and €1,00 and one with the stamps of €0,50 and €2,50.
Note: the stamps would have been released on 22nd september but the issue was postponed because of two typing errrors in the €0,90 stamp.
